Bedfordshire FA to manage Creasey Park Community Football Centre

Wednesday 17th April 2024

As of Monday 1st April, Bedfordshire FA have taken on the management of Creasey Park Community Football Centre as a result of a successful tender process. We are excited at the potential to enhance and further develop the site across the 9-year contract management period whilst continuing to serve the residents of Dunstable via the existing football community and local user groups.

The site boasts a clubhouse, licensed bar, main grass stadia pitch, seven grass pitches, two artificial 3G pitches, BMX track and changing rooms. The venue already plays an integral role in accommodating the demands of a wide variety of users that hire the centre to deliver important programmes, events, functions and initiatives that bring the local community together.

Whilst one of the primary functions is to ensure that the site is self-sustainable for the local community to continue enjoying for many years to come, we are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring that funds generated from the centre are re-invested back into a specific annual sinking fund set aside for each of the 3G pitches so that they can be replaced after approximately 10+ years.

The annual sinking fund is of huge significance to football because if the existing 3G pitches are not able to be replaced at the end of their lifespan, the risk is that existing users can no longer use the surface for training and matches. In addition, this would create a further deficit of 3G pitch provision in Dunstable whilst also having a detrimental impact on the revenue-generating potential that enables the site to thrive and the whole community to benefit.

From a football perspective, the centre is already used by two senior clubs in Bedfordshire that both operate male and female teams at Step 4 & Step 5 of the National League System and Tier 5 and Tier 7 of the Women’s Football Pyramid respectively. Several other football clubs will be able to use the hub site and new initiatives involving education, female football and recreational offers will further assist clubs in diversifying their provision moving forward.

Alan Young, Chief Executive Officer commented ‘’We are now looking forward to building upon the excellent foundations that were put in place by Dunstable Town Council to maintain existing partnerships and relationships, while developing the site further for both football and community needs.’’
