Groundsman of the Year 2019

To celebrate the Groundsman of the Year 2019 competition, an end of season celebratory event has been arranged at Kenilworth Road (Luton Town FC) on Wednesday 17th April from 6.30pm-8.30pm. The Bedfordshire FA GOTY winners, Tom Belton & Paul O’Brien and highly commended, Robert Hill and Stephen & Carl Inns will receive their prizes from sponsors British Sugar Topsoil & MH Goals Ltd.

Luton Town’s Head Groundsman, Richard Bird will deliver a presentation to those in attendance on the end of season renovation. This is designed to support fellow groundsman on hints and tips as well as answering questions and providing examples of good practice for those attending on the night.

This will provide an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the life of a professional groundsman to understand the demands and expectations placed on the team of staff to provide a League One club with the optimal weekly conditions. Richard will explain the importance of the end of season renovations along with the different types of machinery and equipment that are used in order to create the best playing surface available for The Hatters at Kenilworth Road.
