Groundsman of the Year 2019 - Are you the next Wes Matthews?

The Groundsman of the Year 2019 - nominate now!

Bedfordshire FA are pleased to notify its leagues, clubs and army of volunteers that are involved in football about the Groundsman of the Year 2019 nominations being open.

Wes Matthews has flown the flag for Bedfordshire FA and Elstow Abbey after being crowned National Groundsman of the Year 2019. Wes started off by winning the Bedfordshire FA GOTY Award and this quickly transcended to a Regional accolade before a trip to St George’s Park sealed the inspirational award.

To recognise a groundsman who prepares and maintains the playing surface throughout difficult conditions that a typical football season can provide, then why not nominate them and give them the chance to win.

It could be your home ground, an away ground that you admire and look forward to playing at or a combination of the two! We encourage league officials, club committee members, match officials, players, coaches, managers, spectators and anyone else connected to local football to send in an application for their nominated groundsman.

The closing date is Friday 8th February so this is just over 5 weeks away! It is a great time of year to show the appreciation of the hard work of grounds maintenance as we are fast approaching further challenges in weather and the latter stages of the 2018-19 season!
