U10/U12 Mosque Cup

On Saturday 28th July Mosques from around Luton and Bedfordshire came together at the Bedfordshire Football Association to compete for the first ever Mosque Cup at Under 10 and Under 12 age groups. The event was a huge success, having over 50 plus boys represent their Mosque.

The Under 10’s Final was contested between Al Hira and Turkish Community Centre. After a bright start by both teams and a tight first 10 minutes the Turkish Community Centre took the lead from some good play from their centre forward. Al Hira struck straight back with a well taken effort to make it 1-1. Two quick goals in quick succession for the Turkish Community Centre made it 3-1 before Al Hira pulled one back before Half Time.

The second half brought just one goal but the decisive goal went to Al Hira to take the score to 3-3. The game was a tight game that was end to end and in fairness both teams deserved to be champions. The two teams involved could not be split with the game ending 3-3 and the trophy being shared.

In the Under 12 Final it was just as tight as Al Hira met Masjid Bilal. After a close first half Bilal took a 2-1 lead over Al Hira into half time.

However the flood gates opened at both ends when goals flooded in; Bilal took a 4-2 lead before being clawed back before Bilal took the lead again. However Al Hira never gave up and got the score back to 6-6 before Masjid Bilal took the lead once again before sealing the victory with another fine goal before the final whistle.
