Over the last two weeks Bedfordshire FA organised Mosque Cups. There have been over a 100 boys representing their Mosques in the last two weeks. Last weekend saw the Under 10 and Under 12 Cup; this weekend the Under 14 and Under 16 had their opportunity to participate in the Cup.

It was a beautiful hot day which saw Masjid Rabia take control of the Under 16 competition with two wins in their first two games while Turkish Community Center opened up strongly in the Under 14 competition with a win against Al Hira and a draw against Masjid Noor.

As the competition carried on throughout the morning, Rabia were pegged back when they lost to Al Hira which in turn confirmed both team place in the final to be played later in the day. As in the Under 14 competition the same happened in Under 14 as Masjid Noor began to frustrate teams with draws and Turkish Community Center needed the last game to put them through to the final after a win against Masjid Noor.

With all group games the Under 14 final played out a tight contest until a individual bit of brilliance from a Turkish Community Center defender who beat Al Hira players before putting the ball in the top corner to win the cup.

In the Under 16 final between Rabia and Al Hira this was a close affair until Ijaz for Rabia broke the deadlock with a great individual effort and rounded the keeper to send the cup home with Masjid Rabia.

The aim now for The Bedfordhshire FA will be looking to start an Under 14 and Under 16 league where teams will meet once a month playing from February-May 2019.

Whilst continuing to run tournaments for Under 10 and 12 throughout the year. The Bedfordshire FA would like to thank all Mosques for their support in putting these events on.

They have been a huge success and we cant wait for more regular competitions in 2019.
