BPHA crowned Workplace Cup Champions

The Bedfordshire FA Workplace Cup Finale 2018 took place at Kempston Rovers on Friday evening.

On Friday night The Bedfordshire FA Workplace Cup Finals 2018 took place at Kempston Rovers FC with teams that had qualified from the Bedford and Leighton Buzzard competitions (Champions League Format).

Tradeline and BPHA opened up the night with a 1-1 draw after goals from Serge Kadji for Tradeline before BPHA equalised with a sublime free kick from Josh Conte bringing the tie level. QPR Nil played Morrisons in the second fixture; this finished with a scoreless draw.

A Dan Mattin hat-trick then helped BPHA see off Morrisons 4-0 before Tradeline disposed of QPR Nil 1-0. QPR Nil missed a penalty in this fixture, leaving the last games to go down on goal difference if Tradeline and BPHA both won their last game.

Tradeline put the pressure on BPHA with a 3-1 win meaning BPHA had to win to take the title home. BPHA started a little nervous although James Maxwell gave the team the lead before long. The team grew in confidence and took the title home in the end.

The hope for next year is that we have more teams joining the Bedford and Leighton Buzzard competitions and that a Luton Division can be also created for 2019.

The competition was a great success and now we look forward to The Luton Business Trophy in August and The Ladies Business Trophy that will take place throughout September and October.

The Bedfordshire FA would like to thank all teams who took place this year and would like to congratulate BPHA on their win in The Workplace Cup!
