Liam's Paralympic Diary pt.2

Days 4-11: GB’s CP team gets some game time and support from England Women’s Seniors at St. Georges Park.

There is a bit of Olympic fever at the moment, with GB on a medal streak in Rio. Whilst more gold, silver and bronze medals are up for grabs, our Paralympic stars are putting in the final preparations for their own Olympic adventures. Hopefully they can build on the tremendous achievements of London 2012.

As you may be aware, we have an inside scoop from the Great Britain Cerebral Palsy 7 a-side Football team as Bedfordshire’s Liam Irons will be updating a Paralympic Diary to describe his experiences.

Part 2 of Liam’s story, comes from his time at St. Georges Park. With strength and conditioning training completed, the team have been testing themselves against some competitive opposition.

“We’re coming to the end of the training camp now and everyone is on a real high; with everyone looking very sharp and fit.

We played a really competitive game against Burton’s Academy on Monday. It finished 4 v 4 and the coaches were pleased with the performance as something to build on. That night the team went down to watch Man City Under 23’s take on Derby County Under 23's.

The England Women’s Seniors are here at the same time for a fitness camp, so we keep bumping into them. We’ve been speaking and they have been really supportive, wishing us all good luck.

Today we play a game against Kidderminster Academy, so I’ll let you know how it goes.”

Look out for part 3 as Liam and the GB CP team finish their training camp at SGP.
