Do not worry, we hadn’t disappeared since our coming together in October 2012, we have been extremely busy playing our part in the development of football in Bedfordshire!
We have been together for 8 months now and we have played a commendable part this season with the projects we selected to work upon; let me give you an insight of just what we have achieved;
In September we set up a Twitter account, (@BedsFAYC). We hoped the account would create awareness of what we were up too – Our first target was to achieve a follower’s count of 250 by June 2013 and believe it or not, we had achieved this before our last meeting which was held in April, not bad going, hey? Not only have we helped ourselves with Twitter but we have also assisted three leagues, Spartan South Midlands, Bedfordshire Youth Saturday League and Bedfordshire County League, by helping them set up their own twitter account and recruit volunteers to run these, which have all been a great success!
Project number two was for our Football Futures Camp and boy, what a success that had turned out to be! Rather than me blabber on about it, check out the following YouTube clips from the day

Onto our hat-trick, we wanted to created a project for young coaches in our County. The Junior Football Leaders course is a fantastic introduction the coaching pathway. We went bag packing and raised over £100 at Tesco Dunstable and the money raised will allow the course to be advertised at a discounted price of just £5! (Usually £15) Aged 12-19 and want to get into coaching, but are too young to take your level one? Interested? I think you just might want to book a place here, places are going fast and I’m sure it will not disappoint!

Four in the net and onto another project; networking. It wasn’t only our aim to just be known, we wanted to meet as many of you as possible. We have really enjoyed assisting the council members at cup finals. Some of you may be aware that recently the Girls Football Extravaganza took place and the Youth Council played their part by organising the small sided girls tournament and then volunteer on the day too make sure it all ran smoothly.
All in a seasons work, we as a council have achieved what we had aimed too and more, especially with the help of other young people and of course support from the Bedfordshire FA.
However, the new season is on its way and we want to do more for the young people. But the real question is would you like to play your part in this? We are currently recruiting for next season and if you wish to know more then get into contact with us via the email address below.
Hold tight for next season and we hope to hear from you soon!
