Black History Month celebrated in Bedfordshire

The Striving For Unity exhibition showcased at Bedford Academy, Bedford

In Bedfordshire we are very fortunate to have a very diverse community of people working in football. We have been touched in the past by many outstanding stories and achievements by people from many different backgrounds, all of which work so hard to support the development of our local football at grassroots level

This month, one of our BAME FA Mentors Baljinder Singh Lehal has created and developed “The Striving For Unity” exhibition. The striving for unity exhibition celebrates the contribution of Black and Asian players in the development of football.

This was showcased on Tuesday 29th October 2019 as part of The FA Coach Mentoring training session at Bedford Academy in Bedford. The exhibition is a great way to celebrate but also raise awareness of the contribution of Black and Asian players in the football industry of our country.
Baljinder Singh Lehal said: “For me, it was an excellent opportunity for players, parents, fans and coaches to be inspired and celebrate diversity".

October 2019 saw County FA’s welcome 330 coaches to a series of free events as part of Black History Month

Hosted across the country, the events aimed to inspire coaches by providing insight from expert speakers whilst providing support, advice and guidance around FA initiatives that can help people on the next steps of their football journey.
