Beds FA Duo Win Mentor Awards

Bedfordshire FA Coach Mentors win awards at St George's Park.

Bedfordshire FA is proud to announce that two of its FA Coach Mentors received awards at the recent FA Coach Mentor development days at St George’s Park last weekend.

The awards evening was arranged in between a two day event for all of The FA Coach Mentors up and down the country who support club coaches to leave a legacy whilst improving the quality of delivery to the player’s within the club structure.

Bal Singh and Mike Nolan both picked up awards and collectively scooped two out of the three awards up for grabs.

Bal Singh who is currently assigned to Atletico Europa & AFC Shillington, has inspired a number of coaches with varied experiences in grassroots football to engage with the programme and was rewarded for his contribution by collecting the Inclusion award. Bal has arranged surprise treats for his mentees by rewarding them with visits to Wembley Stadium to watch England International matches. The live observations were used to further the learning opportunity and links made to grassroots match analysis. A number of networking opportunities have followed as a result of the hard-work and buy in from the coaches that range from in-house CPD events to the visit of Italian coaches from AS Roma.

Darren Moss, FA Regional Coach Mentor Officer commented,

"It was an inspiring evening that both demonstrated and celebrated the depth of talent within the FA Coach Mentor team. It was also really nice to reward both Bal and Mike on the outstanding contributions this year within Bedfordshire"

Mike Nolan picked up the Above and Beyond award in recognition of his excellent work since being the first mentor in Bedfordshire since The FA Coach Mentor scheme began in 2013. In addition to working with Crawley Green FC & Linslade Galaxy as club coach mentor, Mike also heads up a bespoke support package for coaches involved with disability teams to pass on his knowledge and experience within the game through his role of England Deaf Team Manager. Mike raises the aspirations to continually improve and motivate those around him through drawing on his wide range of experiences amassed through his involvement in grassroots football.

James Petty explained,
"Bedfordshire FA is extremely fortunate to have a very experienced, diversely skilled and passionate group of mentors that are dedicated to helping others. We have seen the Beds FA workforce grow since the inception of Mike in 2013 to benefit from the additional recruitment of Matt Smith, Bal Singh, Sefton Page, Steve Worrell & Simon Wedd over a 5 year period. This highlights the progress and great impact the programme has made and continues to make within Bedfordshire."
