Flitwick Girls Football Academy Kicks Off!

As the Lionesses continue to wow us on the world stage, local football is going to new heights!

Charter standard club Flitwick Eagles FC have launched their first Girls Football Academy to encourage girls to take up football. Girls aged 4 – 9 are welcome to come along to academy sessions each week and learn a bit about the beautiful game. The academy has been running for a few weeks and already has up to 20 girls attending sessions each week on Tuesdays 6-7pm at Redbourne Upper School, Ampthill just past the clubs new Flitwick Football Centre. Sessions include ball skills, team games and small sided matches for all abilities.
Coach Kevin Farr said ‘ following some school sessions we had quite a few girls come down to the club and they keep coming, everyone is enjoying the sessions so far which will continue until the school summer holidays’

Anyone interested in giving football a try can get in touch with Flitwick Eagles on
Kevin@betterhealthcare.co.uk or call 07954 672248. Sessions are £2 each or £20 for a whole term.

As Bedfordshire FA launch their new strategy there is a renewed drive and enthusiasm for female football within the camp. We are going to target support directly at local clubs able to help us get more girls into football; from aged 4 all the way through to adult football. It is an exciting time for the female game in England, and Bedfordshire has a host of opportunities for females to play recreationally or competitively.

Anyone interested in finding a local girls session or team should contact Bedfordshire FA for help and advice. Clubs interested in developing a girls session or team or similar ‘academy’ should also contact the development team for help and support.
