Bedfordshire FA’s Football Development Officer Anika Leslie-Walker was part of the Football Association’s National Management Team. Anika attended Management team meetings from January-July 2010, to assist the young people in planning the FA’s National Leadership & Volunteering Camp for 103 young leaders.
Anika supported the young leaders during and away from meetings within planning the camp, her role included supporting the selection of workshops, advising on problems from the previous year’s camp and generally supporting their personal development. At the end of the camp, Anika was presented with a Leadership and Volunteering Special Award;
The Leadership and Volunteering Special Award is presented to an individual who makes a significant contribution to the success of the programme.
The FA’s Education Project Officer, Steve Swallow said ‘Last year, Anika was selected to assist me in working with a group of 10 young people, aged 17 -19, with the ultimate goal of delivering the FA National leadership and Volunteering Camp’. ‘Anika contributed greatly towards the personal development of the Young Leaders, as well as being a fantastic support to me in the planning and overall running of the camp. Therefore, we considered it only right that she should receive this award in recognition of her achievements’.
