Thursday 26th August 2010 saw the FA Tesco Skills programme supporting the Bedfordshire FA in delivering a coaches clinic for the Charter Standard club coaches across Luton. Many thanks to Crawley Green FC and Iain Black for hosting the event.
The aim of the clinic was to put on a free session and presentation surrounding learning through games and transferring learning into match situations. A group of young players from Crawley Green FC were used in 3 x 20 minute sessions were run on the astroturf. The coaches all had the opportunity to watch and ask questions surrounding the session. Coaches then transferred inside for a short presentation on learning through games and adding challenges. This would allow the children to continue playing in games that were realistic to the game, gave repetition for the children to make and learn from mistakes and improve. Each coach was given a list of different challenges as examples that they can use or to provoke thoughts on new challenges.
If you would like to be involved, keep an eye out for the next Charter Standard Coaches Clinic.
FA Tesco Skills Coaches can also offer Charter Standard club support by visiting your club to work with players and support coaches to develop over a period of 6-10 weeks.
