Respect is a programme that builds upon the feedback from the biggest ever consulation of everyone involved in football from which it was clear that everyone in the game wanted abusive behaviour from the touchlines and towards referees to be addressed.
In response The FA has launched the Respect programme which encourages everyone involved in the game to work together to improve behaviour. It is a long term committment to improving standards of behaviour in football.
Match Officials officiating on Respect Leagues should attend a Respect Workshop, which focuses on techniques involving working with the captain, spectator areas and dealing with dissent.
Bedfordshire FA have rolled out an initial programme of 9 training evenings for officials and now over 250 officials have undertaken this training. Anyone who has not yet attended a Respect workshop should contact refereeing@bedfordshirefa.com or call 01582 565111.
