The Beds Women’s County League (which had run successfully for 2 seasons) had in its first season with an open age division just 6 teams, growing to 9 in its second season of existence. Whilst the u15 section was added for the second season and 8 teams competed. The Herts County League was also previously a successful league in its own right.
The restructuring of the league saw teams from both Beds and Herts competing against each other at open age, u14 and u16 age groups. The league moved to u15 and u17 for season 2007/08. In 2008/09 it boasted an u16 age group (11 aside) and many Futsal tournaments were held to increase the type and numbers of games played for the girls throughout the season. During season 2009/10 the league ran two Divisions of 8 teams in the open age category with an added invitational cup towards the end of the season to increase games played.
The current league structure consists of two open age divisions with 12 teams in Division One and 11 in Division Two. There is also a healthy u15’s league with 9 teams, which will also run a Futsal league during the months of December and January, held at Cranfield University.
