Trevor Brooking and his team at The FA aim to use football to promote long term healthy, active lifestyles, by encouraging children to play football to the best of their ability - ultimately with the goal of improving the standard of the game across the country.
The FA, with help from Tesco, will do this by providing one million young people with the chance to attend free skills sessions*.
66 full-time, professional coaches have undertaken a specialist age appropriate coaching course designed to make them world leading experts in improving the football skills of 5-11 year olds.
The Skills programme aims to help children develop better agility, balance and coordination, making them better at all sports! Coaching activities will help improve children's ability to work as part of a team, solve problems and make decisions whilst building confidence towards physical activity. It will make them better footballers too!!
Currently we have no skills coaches in Bedfordshire, but there is still the opportunity for coaches in the East Region to visit Charter Standard Clubs, attend Charter Standard meetings, visit Schools and put on sessions for Coaches Association members.
