FA Youth Award (Module 1) Developing the Environment

This is a 32 hour non assessed course, aimed at coaches, at all levels, who wish to extend their knowledge of coaching the 5-11 year old player.

The course will provide practical sessions and advice for when coaching this age group, and will increase the candidate’s knowledge of how to develop their coaching to incorporate the FA 4 corner model.

The course will cover technical development and in the physical corner it will offer FUNdamental ideas for the coach to use as well as suggested activities for the development of football specific movements. The important Social and Psychological development of the young player is also examined.


Who is the course intended for?

This course is aimed at qualified coaches and teachers who have attended the FA Level 1 Refresher and who wish to extend their knowledge and experience in coaching 5-11 year old children.


Course Format

32 hours (non assessed). Workshops include:

  • How Players Learn
  • Managing Mistakes
  • Self-Esteem
  • Motivation
  • There is a pre-course read and self test questions for the “Physical” aspects of the course.
  • Practical activities/games
  • Managing Difference pre-course read and a chance to try the games out under the watchful eye of your tutor.
